So what is the scoop on the 3.6? Is it reliable? Does it have a Pentastar tick (Hemi guys know what I am talking about) and picky with the oil they have in them? How are the holding up with high mileage?

I haven't seen many threads on RamForum popping up with issues with the 3.6

Not knowing Jeeps at all, I have always been under the impression that the Pentastar is the best thing since sliced bread.

But a quick Google shows that there are plenty problems with cylinder heads on these engines.

Apparently solved since 2012...but repair shops in the US still report problems from 2013. So who knows?

I think there was a redesign of the 3.6 in 2016 also

2012 was a first year run of the engine in the wrangler (I think), and some issues were resolved the following year. then somewhere along the line in the last couple years it was revised again getting more power and mpg. Also the Galdiator is supposed to have a revised 3.6, so not sure what was done there.

Yes, as far as I know, the only real improvements were the 8 speed auto, and wind drag reduction.

Have there been any major issues after the revised motor?

it seems like most have been resolved especially the head issues. Googled it and thats what I can see so far. was hoping a Jeep guy that was involved on Jeep forums could drop in. from what I can see from the little I have been researching its been good these few recent years.

Ram guys know the 8 speed has been great and is a very good performing trans. I know the diffs, xfer case is beefy too. The 3.6 is the only thing I really dont know much about.

2012 was the first MY with the 3.6 (I had one). There was a 50/50 shot you'd wind up with lifter tick, (by 2013MY, they had fixed the problem). The Pentastar was a HUGE improvement over the previous motor, and when paired with 4.10s and a 6 spd I was leaving rubber all over the place. I would like to see a diesel with a 6spd but I don't think it's in the plan.
